Species: Werewolf/Shape-shifter
Background:
Gabe's mother Lilian was a Quileute. His father Steven was not. His mother died of cancer when he was only two, and his father felt it would be better for Gabriel to be raised by Steven's sister-in-law, Emily, and brother, Josh. Emily and Josh were kind and rose him like one of their own, though Gabe kept in touch with his father and called his aunt and uncle Josh and Emily.Flaws/Personality traits:
Josh and Emily were very good with Gabe and their own son, Darren. Gabe and Darren became close friends, being in the same grade and growing up together. As they grew older, though, Darren became more outgoing and social while Gabe withdrew into himself and started on a downward spiral of self-destruction. He didn't dabble in drugs or alcohol, though. His problems were emotional and self-inflicted. They stemmed from feeling unwanted by his father and overshadowed by Darren to Josh and Emily. He stopped paying attention to things in his life, stopped trying.
Gabriel was not a very good student. He is very intelligent, but he lacked the drive and ambition because of his emotional issues to make good grades. His social life was busy. He had a lot of friends, none of them close at all. None of them knew anything about him. They let him come to games with them, go to movies, and all the innocent things teenagers do. Gabriel didn't want to mess with partying and alcohol or drugs, so he bailed when his friends did that sort of thing.
He floated through high school, no attachments, no ambition. Although he had several flings, he never had any kind of lasting relationship, and he got a bad reputation as a heartbreaker. He and Darren inevitably drifted apart, especially when Darren got a steady girlfriend and spent a lot more time with her. Jealousy of Darren played a large part in Gabriel's withdrawal. He was jealous of his effortless happiness, the approval Josh and Emily gave him, the close support of his circle of friends, and his ability to not screw up a relationship. His father got remarried to a woman with a child from a previous marraige, and Gabriel stopped talking to him as a result, feeling even more abandoned and rejected.
After he graduated, Gabriel picked up a pretty well-paying job as a kennel manager at a local pet boarding kennel. He was a lot better with animals than with people. As soon as he turned eighteen, he moved into a small place of his own, leaving behind Josh, Emily, and Darren like he had so many other relationships. For four years he worked at that job and lived in that apartment. Because all of his friends were merely acquaintances that he happened to hang out with sometimes, he lost touch with most of them after graduation. More lost connections. In his free time, Gabriel liked to read or go to sports bars to watch games and get some interaction with other people in. He tried a few more times to have a successful relationship, but each time he got scared when they got close and ended things.
At twenty-two, his time was up. That's when his transformation began. When he came to terms with what was happening to him, he felt even more isolated and alone. Although there were several packs nearby, he never joined any of them. The thought of having others in his head was not attractive. Gabe had always been a loner, and he felt that he could make it on his own, teaming up with the packs if they needed help.
In one such pack, a few years after his own transformation, he met a young woman named Vanessa. She was beautiful, daring, and fun to be around. They had a short fling, but this time he didn't do the leaving. He tried to let her in, just a little bit. What he didn't realise what that she was just like him. No strings attached, no commitments. She left him as he had left so many others, and it affected him in ways he never thought possible. He was the one left behind again.
Gabriel is an intelligent under-achiever. He loves being around people and having fun, but he never makes attachments. With a deep-rooted sense of abandonment brought on not only by his mothers' death at an early age but by his father giving him away to relatives, he never wants to be left again. It seems logical to him, then, that he should never give anyone the chance by letting them get close.Physical description:
He's funny, outgoing, extremely flirtatious, and a lot of fun. He oozes confidence and just the right amount of cockiness to be endearing rather than annoying. Making enemies is not easy, as he's rather likeable. However, all this is hiding a very insecure person with some pyschological damage that was never addressed. He is afraid of commitment, afraid of letting people in, afraid of rejection and disappointment. Gabe is really a good guy, his heart in the right place and his intentions usually noble. He just tends to run away from fear and vulnerability rather than confront it.
He also has a volatile temper, and doesn't take criticism to his character very well. It's a toss-up as to whether he'll get angry and blow up or depressed and go hole up in his apartment, though. He's instable.
No strings attached is the way Gabe goes through life, gleaning what little satisfaction he can from loveless flings, friends held at arm's length, and very little familial interaction. He hates feeling vulnerable more than anything.
Gabe is a huge risk-taker. He loves doing things he shouldn't, dangerous things, the adrenaline rush being one of the only things that makes him feel alive or even close to happy.
Gabriel doesn't feel like he fits in anywhere.
Unfortunately, because he let someone a lot like himself in just a little bit and got burned, he has formed an almost obsessive attachment to Vanessa. It is not threatening or even mean-spirited; he really just feels they're right for each other. What he doesn't realise is that the reason it hurt so bad to get left lies in his emotional instability. Because he feels abandoned, he feels it is inevitable for everyone in his life to abandon him. Therefore, he leaves any relationship before they have the chance to hurt him first. Thus, Vanessa leaving him brought to the surface all the long pent-up rejection.
Aspirations:
Gabriel has short brown hair and always has a short-trimmed beard. He has his own style, and mixes clothing a lot. T-shirts with ties, suit jackets and blazers with jeans. Whatever he thinks looks good.
As part Quileute and a werewolf, his skin tone has a sort of caramel tone to it, browning nicely in the sun, and he has a muscular build. He is on the smaller side compared to other werewolves, being more lithe than huge and a little shorter than most. However, that still makes him tall compared to a lot of humans.
He decided not to give up on Vanessa, and though she is disinterested, he continues to pursue her. She's the unattainable, the one thing he wants in life, for reasons he can't bring himself to understand. She's more than just a woman who burned him. She's become the goal of everything in summation: love, the need to be wanted, the want to be needed, acceptance for him as he is. A place for him to finally belong. He has unfairly put all of that on her, after just a short fling, simply because of the fact that she was the one who ended it.Where Did You Find Us?: Other
She marks the beginning of a turning point. For once, he's going to try for something, going to fight for something (besides vampires (: ). Whatever happens, Gabe intends to try and finally drag himself out of the rut he's been living in and beat his emotional afflictions.

I also play Tanner.
