Change Waning Sun?

Hello all,

This subject was raised not too long ago but never resolved. I know some of you are hardcore about Twilight, and others would be interested to see a change in the site's theme...so I wanted to open it up for everyone to vote anonymously, to see what is on everyone's mind.

If you vote, I please ask you to give us your thoughts/suggestions/etc. in a response as well.

If we change Waning Sun's theme, here is how things will change/stay the same:

• The title, WANING SUN, will most likely stay in tact unless we think of something better. Waning Sun is still an appropriate name for a Vampire RPG.
  
• For awhile, the skin will also stay in tact; I currently don't have photoshop and I am OCD about designing the graphics myself. So until I could get photoshop back, the skin would stay the same; it MIGHT darken if we change the theme.
  
• We will still use Vampires + Humans, but not TWILIGHT ones. We may even still remain in L.A., because it's still not canon in the first place.
  
• Werewolves are sketchy; I'm still not sure if we'll have a third race or not. It'll either be Werewolves or Demons.
  
• If we do not base ourselves off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we will not represent a fandom at all. We will simply be a Vampire RPG. This will be up to you guys. If we go with the Buffy theme, we will be adding demons + slayers to our race choices as well as Vampires + Humans. However, like with all of my forums, we would still refrain from involving canons.
  
• You all would have the chance to re-do or edit your current characters as you please.
  
• Vampires would no longer sparkle, but the following the BtVS canon:
  -Wooden Stake in the heart, Sunlight + Decapitation = Death.
  -Death= explode into dust/ash.
  -Holy Water, Garlic + Crosses = pain.
  -Can only be turned int a vampire if you are both drank from/drink from the sire.
  -Vampires do not have souls unless gained elsewhere.
  -Can shift their faces at will/faces shift into demon-form when angered. NOT ALWAYS PRETTY!
  -Eyes are always yellow when they are in their demonic state.
  -And then the other stuff: no need to eat or breathe, keen senses, blah blah blah.

Please post here asap and give me your feedback on the site's potential subject-change. I'm kind of hoping you guys want the change; I'm growing weary of Twilight. When I started this, I just wanted to show other Twilight-RPG's how it's done. But I kind of shot myself in the foot, since I'm not interested in Twilight as a fandom. So, playing my characters isn't very fun. Also, due to the sheer lack of posts as of recent, I can see that it hasn't been fun for you either.

I think that wuld be a good idea,but no Buffy. I'm starting to agree with you about Twilight, it annoys me. And I have a suggestion. How about incorporating some stuff from Moonlight. It has some interesting stuff.

I'm always up for something Buffy themed! I love that verse. But anything neutral would be awesome too as long as it sticks to ORIGINAL vamp ideas and not silly 'well im going to write a book and make up my own rules' nonsense!

Corey: I would incorporate Moonlight, but I've never watched (barely even heard of!) that show. Therefore I don't know enough about the fandom. :[ Otherwise, I probably would!

I don't mean a fandom. Just take some of the ideas from it. A stake paralyzes, silver id deadly. Sun will kill only long period. Stuff like that.

I don't know, I want to stick as close to Vampire canon as possible; which is what Buffy does. I've never heard of silver being deadly to vampires! That's a new one. It would probably disorient and annoy me. xD

Hm... well I know in the Southern vampire series silver can harm vampires but it's definitely not deadly and they heal really quickly, but the rest of that series is pretty accurate (except for the reflection and photograph thing haha). actually. i think Meyers pretty much stole lots of her concepts from those books. I mean the main character can read peoples minds but she can't read the other main characters. But she isn't a vampire.. you'd probably like the series amy They made it into a tv show on HBO called true blood but it's not as cool as the books i don't think.

anyyways. off topic lol. I like the name, even if it does harken to the Twilight names, but it's appropriate for general vampire fandom. I think the skin is fine too, but i'm not going to say change it when I have no graphic skills myself and I know that takes a lot of effort.

annd as for the groups I guess it depends on if this would be a general rpg or a buffycentered one. Cause in that verse there are demons and witches and slayers and the like whereas a general one it would be more people and vamps.

I think it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Buffy and Twilight are starting to get a bit overrated, and everybody either seems to hate Twilight or be nuts about it.

Aww ... you guys broke my heart. I was so hyped up for this site. Well it's all fair I mean it seems the majority of you don't like the twilight style can't blame you for what you like or don't like. If you guys know of any other site that is twilight themed and does not use canons please let me know cause I am too tired looking for them. It took forever to find this one. I guess it was too good to be true. I was really excited. Sorry I never got active I just have been having a really rough year at school and with my job but I did mean to become very active. Sorry everyone I guess I came too late.

P.S. That's what I liked about Stephenie Meyer's vampires though ... they defeated the norm. They were different. They beat "myth". It made it so much more real to me. I dunno. I just had some really good roleplaying ideas in my mind. I don't care so much about the story just the concept however. It makes it seem ... so natural.

Evelyn, I'm sorry that you're so disappointed. Initially, I kept the forum as a Twilight one specifically because you were so adamant about it, and you genuinely seemed interested. However, it's been weeks since you joined the site and you haven't even finished registering your character yet. That lets me know, right away, that my most devoted member isn't going to be at-all active.

Also, since I'm not terribly interested in Twilight myself, it's just not fun running this forum or reading the threads. I must not be the only one suffering, since the site has encountered a staggering bout of inactivity lately. It kind of makes me happy; most of the people here share my sentiment: Twilight was a good idea, but a terrible novel. Most of the people here just wanted to see if it would work, and they like to write of course.

I even pondered the idea of making this a Dollhouse forum and ditching Vampires altogether, but since I don't know much about the Dollhouse fandom yet NOR are there a lot of dollhouse fans yet, I'm putting it off. I will keep the vampires but probably won't stick to any fandom--as Grace pointed out, with the Buffyverse, there is too much variety in things you could be (witch, slayer, demon, vampire, werewolf, civilian..), and I've found that too many membergroups = slow roleplay due to not enough people in each group.

So, I'm thinking I'm going to change Waning Sun: A Twilight RPG into Waning Sun: A Vampire RPG. Who's with me?! xD

Grace, you could surely help! If we change to a regular Vampire-RPG, we'll need a new plot and probably some other changes around the site. I could make you an admin if you want to be able to change things on your own without having to rely on me. xD

And I do like our skin but it feels a little too light for our new theme, so I'll probably have to get around to changing that around a little (but keeping our cute on/off icons on the front page :">).
