"Sure," Wes replied to Cynthia with a shrug. He didn't much like his birth-name, but for some reason, the way she said it made his stomach flip. Wesley. How gay, yet how melodic? He blinked. What was wrong with him?
Wes shook David's hand and nodded. "You too." At least he wasn't going all ga-ga for guys now.
Cynthia wasted no time in jumping onto conversation. She asked him about his views on vegetarianism, and Wes couldn't help but let out a light chuckle at this. He'd never been asked such a question before, especially within the first few minutes of meeting someone. Apparently they didn't care about where he worked or where he was from, simply that he had an opinion on eating meat.
"If you put it that way, it sounds bad," He said with amusement. "But I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with eating meat." He looked from Tanner to Cynthia. It was apparent that the woman was trying to get Wes to side with her against her vegetarian friend. There was something organic about Tanner that just screamed 'I don't eat meat!' He felt for the guy, felt bad that he was actually siding with the woman rather than his fellow man. However, Wes wasn't going to lie just because he felt bad; he was, in fact, quite carnivorous.
He emphasized this point by adding, "Meat's about all I eat."

Cynthia grinned wide at Wes's response. "I thought so," she said with an air of victory in her tone. "See Wesley," she continued casually, "Tanner thinks it's wrong to prey on things with brains. Don't you just think that's so silly?" She knew she was making the other man feel awkward, but she was proving a point. Humans didn't care about slaughtering those who were a step down from them; why should Tanner care, too? Why spare a species who would do the same thing? Who DO do the same thing?
Smirking mirthfully, Cynthia draped an arm over Wes' shoulder to make him feel more at...home. Also, she knew her powers of seduction over humans was virtually irresistible. She gave Tanner a look that said, 'I'm going to find this precious human in a dark alley later.' Or, more bluntly, 'I'm playing with my food.'

Tanner was disappointed, but certainly not very surprised, when the man agreed with Cynthia. He even went so far as to say that meat was just about the only thing he did eat. Leaning back, David folded his arms and studied them as Cynthia spoke again. He was well-practiced at acting human, and he twitched and moved just as restlessly as he had as a human. Keeping up the air of casual converstation Cynthia had so tactfully constructed, he spoke his piece. "Well, I think it's not as cut and dry as you make it sound." Rubbing his hands together, he leaned forward and looked from Wes to Cynthia. "Do we eat the flesh of another living, breathing creature only because we can? And just because you can, does that make you better than that creature?'
His eyes locked with Cynthia's. "To tell you the truth, I think it's sort of base and animalistic to think like that." He challenged. Usually, he was very non-confrontational, but she was trying to provoke him. She was making it personal, and he was going to show her he couldn't be bullied, no matter how much of a soft touch he seemed to be. Her actions with Wes were painfully clear to him, and it was made worse by the fact that she was doing this to spite him. If anything happened to Wes, it would be partly Tanner's fault. His eyes narrowed as he watched them, then turned to Wes. "So what do you do, Wes?" he asked, attempting to bring about a more normal conversation.
