Wearing baggy jeans and a hooded black hoodie. The sun was setting and she pulled her food down as she looked around cautiously. She let out a sigh of relief as people began to leave and go to sleep. She was safe...or more like they were safe for now. She had problems controlling her thirst, although each day she seemed to get a bit better. She sat down on a bench and started whistling to herself. Her hair hung partly in her face, but she didn't really care. She let out a sigh, she hated avoiding people, yet she had to or else she would probably go insane. She needed a vampire friend, she really hadn't met any vampires, usually if she did, she only saw them for a day and then they left.
She crossed her legs and looked around, she hated not being able to walk around in the day. When she had first become a vampire, she had noticed her skin sparkle when she walked out into the sun. Fortunately for her only one person saw, so all she had to do was kill him and suck his blood of course. Now she was more cautious, and knew she couldn't let people know about her, or else her "life" would be on the line, if that made any sense. She let out a sigh, she had been lonely for most of her life, and it was really starting to bore her. Some people had asked to be her friend, but they probably only liked her for her looks, since vampires were supposedly more beautiful then humans, which she could kind of see why. She had also not become their friends because of course, her control of her thirst. She wondered if she'd ever make friends, probably not human friends, but possibly vampire, although her dark personality might stop her...she would probably have to change a bit in order to make a friend...but was it worth it?

Ben kept putting just one foot in front of the other as he walked. His thoughts weren't on anything going on around him. His mind was far too busy trying to solve his dilemma to really notice, or rather care, about anything going on around him.
I swear if I can't find something to do in this town, I'm going to explode. he thought irritably to himself. If there was one thing Ben couldn't stand, it was boredom. And of course that meant being nearly out of his mind as long as the sun was up. This was definitely a bad town to live in if you were a vampire. Way to sunny. He could avoid the sparkling, but he was pretty sure he'd stick out a lot if he wore a sweater when it was eighty degrees out.
Ben's eyes roved around his sorroundings, looking for something, anything to take his mind off of this horrible boredom. The sun was nearly set, so he was able to get away with wearing jeans and a thin long sleeved shirt. His face was easily covered by a thin piece of rubber material that he had made, that fit like a second skin and kept his face from sparkling from every beam of sunlight.
His eyes snapped to someone sitting on a bench, and a quick breath confirmed his new found suspicion. The figure on the bench was a vampire. Well, it looked like this day was finally going to get better. Hopefully at least. he quickened his pace, just enough so that the other vampire would be aware that he'd noticed it and become aware of his presence. He crossed the distance quickly, slipping up to stand behind the bench. "Hello there." Ben said, a grin becoming plastered onto his face.

Melody started humming quietly and tapped her foot in a rhythm with her tapping. She didn't really know what she was humming, she was just doing something so she seemed human, because she would have been perfectly fine sitting there not moving at all. She let stopped humming when she thought she heard someone. Ok, you need to control yourself, if it is a human or not. She didn't know what a human would be doing around this time of day, most humans got ready to stay indoors at this time. She was about to turn towards the noise when they were suddenly behind her. That was too fast for a human... She hoped it wasn't a werewolf, or shape-shifter, or whatever they called themselves.
She shook her head, she would be smelling something horrible if it were one of those dogs. She smiled as she heard someone say a simple hello. She turned around to face the stranger. Yup, a vampire alright. She then said, "Hello...what brings you to Chinatown?" She grinned, this place was usually a nice place to be, but around this time of day, it was usually boring. She couldn't watch humans do their humanly things. She looked up at the sky as the sun seemed to almost disappear. She then moved her gaze back to the vampire.

"Boredom." Ben replied, his grin not leaving his face. In the blink of an eye he was seated next to the vampire on the bench. "I'm Ben. You are?" He asked, leaning back and putting his hands on the back of his head, trying to do something for the few dragging humans still hanging around. Not that he really cared whether they new he was a vampire or not, but he imagined the other vampire did. Most of the time they did.
He changed his grin to one of deviousness when he noticed a human staring at him. Moving his hand a little bit, he let the light hit his hand so that it started to sparkle. He moved it down quickly, so that no one else would notice. But it had accomplished the desired effect. The man had went extremely pale, and was now nearly sprinting out of the park, looking like he was about to soil himself. Changing his grin back to normal, Ben returned his attention to the vampire sitting next to him.

Melody nodded, being a vampire did get pretty boring, especially if you did the same stuff everyday, and were in the same place everyday. Melody said, "I'm Melody, nice to meet you Ben." She faked a yawn and crossed her arms. She missed sleeping and dreaming. Dreaming always made her happier about herself, and she always looked forward to happy dreams when she fell asleep. Now she really had nothing to look forward to. She's kind of learned to get over it through the past couple decades.
She watched as Ben let the sun reflect against his skin and made it sparkle. She loved how vampires' skin sparkled. She grinned as she watched the human go pale. She loved watching humans suffer or panic or anything like that. She didn't know why, she just couldn't help smiling when she saw a panicked face or a high scream. She said quietly, "Nice."

Ben chuckled. "Nice to meet you too Melody." He replied, shaking the sleeve of his down to cover his hand again. It was really more of a leftover habit from when he was human then him actually trying to conceal his skin. He hadn't meant to terrify the poor man, just scare him off. He almost felt guilty about it. Almost. You couldn't be a vampire without terrifying a few humans after all.
He smiled at Melody's last comment. "Isn't it though? It's so much fun seeing humans reactions to our species." That set Ben wondering about whether or not Melody had a power. He loved to see other peoples power, and more importantly, there reactions to their power not working. Sometimes they still worked, just oddly, and more often then not the way they were working would cause some very humorous responses. "So do you have any interesting abilities Melody?" He asked innocently, his grin still never leaving his face.

Melody grinned and said, "Haha, I know exactly what you mean!" Melody thought it was cool that someone else liked humans reactions when they saw something a bit out of place with vampires...when they lived to see a difference. Melody crossed her legs out of habit of trying to act human around other humans. Melody frowned at his question and said, "No, how 'bout you?" She was not one of the fortunate vampires who had special powers when they were transformed into a vampire.
She wondered what this guy's power was, he obviously had one since he asked if she did. She kind of wished she had one, just to make her more unique then other vampires, but of course she wasn't that unique so she didn't worry about it. She looked at Ben, trying to think what his power could possibly be, she wondered how strong it was and how effective it was. She kind of really didn't get the point of powers anymore though, there weren't many fights that vampires seemed to get into that much, who knew though.
Melody sighed, she wondered what her power would be if she ever had one...what if she did have one, but she hadn't found it yet? She pushed that thought away, she would have found it by now, she was technically 85 years old. She grinned, she was considered an old lady, but thanks to becoming a vampire, she was still 21. She always liked that part of being a vampire.

Ben's smiled widened as memories of him using his power came floating back into his mind. "I can short out other peoples powers. If a vampire with a power comes within about 50 feet of me, their power starts acting funny. The closer they are the worse the effect. The only bad part is I can't turn it off."Ben laughed loudly. "There was one vampire, who could shoot lightning. I picked a fight with him, and when he tried to zap me he electrocuted himself. The look on his face was priceless."
Ben studied Melody, wondering if she really did have a power and she had just been lying about not. Course, it didn't matter whether she did or not, it wouldn't be working with her this close anyways. "I wonder what power you would have, if you had one that is." The last of the people had filtered away, most likely spurred by the earlier incident with the human Ben terrified.

Melody listened to Ben, her eyes wide. He could really do that, he could be like invincible if he were in fights then, couldn't he? Melody didn't know much about this stuff so she wouldn't know. She smiled as he mentioned the guy that electrocuted himself, that would have been nice to see. She wondered if his power effected the shape-shifters, they usually didn't have powers, but that would be kind of cool if it made the shape-shifters unable to shift.
Melody nodded to what Ben said next, she had been thinking about that not too long ago. She said, "Yeah, I wonder...do you know if people get a certain power based off their personality or something, like, I wonder how you recieve a certain power after you've become a vampire, and how you get that certain power, out of all the other powers you get. If that makes any sense..." Melody was kind of speaking her thoughts, but she wondered if Ben knew also. So many questions were in her head, and she knew that Ben probably wouldn't be able to answer all of them, so she decided to keep most of them in.

(OOC: OMG. That would be awesome if Ben's power could affect the shape-shifters shifting ability! Think about it, they could try to shift and end up only partly shifting, so they'd be like half wolf and half human at the same time....that'd look so weird).
Ben nodded. "Ya. I think it has something to do with your personality. I've never met someone with a nice personality who has an offensive power. I've also never meant a violent person with a defensive power. But I also think a factor is if you were nearly dead when you were changed, and how you died." Ben paused, thinking that the last part probably didn't make much sense. "For example, I knew a vampire who had nearly drowned to death when she was changed to save her life. Her power was being able to concentrate the water in a persons body into their lungs so they'd drown. Completely worthless for a vampire, but useful on humans." [/b]
He looked Melody up and down, trying to think of what kind of power she could have. If the earlier incident was anything to go by, she enjoyed other peoples pain, which conflicted oddly with how she looked. Or at least in Ben's opinion it did. "What kind of power would you like to have?" He asked out of genuine curiosity.

(ooc: haha, that would be funny! =D ) Melody nodded while listening to Ben's explanation. That was kind of cool, so unique. She really wished she had a power, she was just a plain old vampire, nothing special, well if you compared yourself to vampires with powers at least. Melody then thought hard at what Ben said next. What power would I like to have? There was a lot of choices....but which one would fit her best? She didn't really know what her own personality was like. She was pretty easy-going...that didn't help with her options. Wow, this was harder then she thought.
Melody said to Ben, "Well, maybe a power...that did something....hmmmm..." She stopped in midsentence and thought again. She kind of wanted a power that worked against shape-shifters, since she wasn't a big fan of them, but what would that power be? So hard.... Melody started her sentence over saying, "Maybe a power that like, makes shape-shifters....like...eh, I don't know how to explain it. Like..." Melody looked around, trying to find a good answer. "...like something that will...either make them not be able to shift, or just only have human abilities, or maybe.....a shrinking power would be kind of cool, shrinking your enemies." Melody smiled, she wasn't that creative when it came to this stuff, but she was really fond of her imaginary shrinking power.

Ben chuckled at Melody's stumbling. It was kinda cute. "Ya. You could shrink those seven foot freaks to the size of a cockroach, and then just go to town flicking them around or stomping them and, " Ben did air quotes around the next word he said, "accidentally missing. Think of the terror on the face. Then you could put the silly little shifter into a jar and you'd have a pet wolf." He smiled wickedly. "Of course, you'd have to remember to add some air holes. Would hate for the poor thing to suffocate."
Ben really wasn't fond of shape-shifters, except for the comedic appeal. They were annoying, and a threat to vampires. Not for the first time Ben wondered if it would be possible to annihilate the shape-shifters if enough vampires worked together. After all, vampires still outnumbered the shape-shifters, right? Ben stood up, halfway stretching before he remembered he didn't have to act human at the moment. "Want to go do something?"

Melody grinned and said, "Yeah, that would teach those dumb dogs." If she did have shrinking powers, she could shrink one to a size of a chihuahua and keep it, but she might have to put a shock collar on so they didn't cause any trouble. Ahh, the fun she would have shrinking things. It was too bad she didn't have a power. She looked around and smiled, all the humans seemed to have left now, that was good. Now she was practically free to act like a vampire, her normal self.
Melody watched as Ben got up and stretched. She uncrossed her legs and stood up also. She then was a bit surprised when he asked her if she wanted to do something. Usually no one wanted to do anything with her...humans usually thought she was weird, and other vampires...well, she didn't know. She said, "Uh, sure, what do you want to do?" Melody then wondered something, she wondered if Ben was a "vegetarian" or not. Now that Melody thought about, she hadn't had a nice treat in awhile... She tried to get that thought out of her head. What if he was a vegetarian, he probably wouldn't like it if she preyed on some human in front of him. She would just have to ask him. "Hey...I'm just curious, but are a "vegetarian"?"
