TO CREATE AN ADOPTABLE CHARACTER:
Have you ever had a fantastic idea for a character, but knew you didn't have the time to play it? Well, see your character come to life through another player! Simply create a new thread and fill out the application as you did when creating your own character. Be extremely specific and try to leave nothing out, as to make your character appeal better to prospective adopters, and so the adopters are not unsure about anything about your character. If they play your baby wrong, it is your fault for not being specific enough.
NOTE: Any sue characters put up for adoption will be deleted, no questions asked. I will of course PM you and let you know, but you'll have to start from scratch to get your character back on the adoption boards. REMEMBER, if you have to ask if your character's a sue, he/she probably is. Avoid this.
TO ADOPT A CHARACTER:
Have you ever wanted to create an awesome character, but had a terrible case of writer's block? Well, scan the adoption boards and see if there's a character waiting here just for you!
When browsing the characters up for adoption and find one you like, simply reply in that thread and post something along the lines of "I'm adopting this character." You will then change your screen name to your newfound Character's name, adopt his/her personality, and proceed to the RP boards.
For the most effective and clean adoptions, try to PM the creator to get a better feel for the character. Ask questions, make plots with them! There is no greater joy than seeing your character get adopted; don't be afraid to approach the creator!
There is a perk to adopting a character: You may change anything about the character that you'd like, though you should probably try to stay as true to the original outline as possible. Changing the original character too much would defeat the purpose of adopting one. If you find yourself changing too much about a character, you may just want to use some ideas and create your own.
If you decide to change anything about the character, just specify what you're changing when you are letting me know that you're adopting that character. I need to know all and any changes you plan to make and so does the creator. Posting it with your adoption is the easiest way to let us know.
Another perk of adopting a character is that all characters listed are automatically registered. The only time I will need to actually confirm that your character has been registered is if you've changed anything about the original character, which in this case you will have to wait for me to approve it before you assume it is registered. Otherwise, after adopting a character, you can jump straight into the Roleplay boards. Have fun!
Some characters on the page will have already been adopted. You will know this if there is a padlock on the thread, meaning it's locked (also, if someone has already replied saying they're adopting that character). furthermore, the title is changed from "Adopt: Charactername" to "ADOPTED: charactername."
Good luck!
