Asmaa strut through the crowded night club and brandished herself a booth. She was wearing a tight black coctail dress( at least the saleswoman at Nordstrom told her it was black, and she'd paid the woman enough to ensure what she said was true), and matching stilletos. With the way the music played around here she didn't need to be barefoot to see. Hell, she tried not to get dizzy it was so chaotic. But she assumed it was that way to keep the humans, and occaisionally the wolves, well distracted from what really went on at The Red Horn.
She didn't wear her trademarked rose colored specs- or even sunglasses- in here, she knew it was a safeplace to be a vamp- for the most part. Tonight was just oneof thoe nights where she was too lazy to go "hunting". The barmaid came up and asked her what she wanted to drink- she still had to order in code, she wasn't a regular just yet- so she told the barmaid to bring her a bloody mary. This time it better not be a real bloody mary... The red smears that were her eyes usually enabled the bartenders to bring her the proper libation, but there were the instances when her drink reaked of tomatoes and booze.
Asmaa knew that some of the vampires who stalked this place hated the very notion that humans and were's were permitted access. Asmaa never cared to much for either race, but it wasn't enough to make her blood boil. She wasn't the type to start a fight- to agitate, yes, to annoy, yes, to toy with, of course, but she did not care too much for fighting. Not to say that she wouldn't take their side in this ongoing madness, but if she passed one on the streets, she passed them- that's it.
The waitress brought Asmaa her 'Bloody Mary', and Asmaa removed the celery and thanked the woman. She raised the glass to her lips and let the sweet crimson refreshment slither down her throat. She set the glass down- the clank it made against the table told her it was little more than half full.
She tucked her hair behind er left ear as she heard a set of footsteps approach her, and they weren't the waitress'.
"Can I help you?" She said, looking straight ahead.

Mei had been in The Red Horn before. It was loud, chaotic, the perfect distraction so that the humans had no idea of what really went on in the nooks and crannies of this place.
Tonight the place was pretty packed, which Mei didn't mind- that meant it was a chance to meet someone new- Mei loved to make new friends. What 8 year old wouldn't? Sure she was a half-breed, but that never stopped her from acting her age every now and then.
Being a half-breed wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Mei knew that to a human, being half vampire would be the closest thing to being a superhero, but in reality, there was no place for a middle ground. In the vampire realm half-breeds were not as rare as they used to be, but they were stillsomething of a mystery. Some vampires didn't like half-breeds because they reminded them of all the human things they'd lost. The vampires who thought all humans were beneath them looked at the half-breeds as some sort of abomination that needed to be terminated. But most of the vampires didn's give you the time of day, mostly beause the didn't care (and partially because they didn't wear watches anymore).
Mei had learned this the hard way not too long after leaving the safety of her parents' house- but she needed to be on her own for a while-this was the only way she'd get along in the world. And for the most part, it didn't bother her.
As Mei contemplated her social rankings she'd mindlessly wandered up to a mostly empty table. (None of the tables were empty tonight.) She figured it was the smell of the woman's 'bloody mary' (although tonight she heard it was bloody kim) that directed her to the table.
A little caught off guard by the woman's greeting (and lack of aknowledgment), she stumbled over her words, "Oh...I'm-m Mei, do you mind if I sit with you? This place is pretty full tonight."

Asmaa inhaled slowly and deeply, this girl had vamp blood in her for sure, but wasn't a vampire. This girl must've been one of those new half-breeds wandering around. The length of steps the girl took told Asmaa that the girl was fully grown, but the way she smelled didn't match. They must age strangley, this girl can't be more than ten years.
Asmaa held out her hand as she made a gesture for the girl to join her. The Red Horn was indeed pushing maximum capacity this evening. She took another sip of her liquid refreshment as the girl sat down. Asmaa had heard of the half-breeds before, but had never actually met one. Asmaa's mind raced with questions for the girl---how was she concieved, how old was she, who were her parents, what does she eat, and so on. But as opposed to bogging the girl down with an interrogation, which she had clearly not intended for this evening, Asmaa to a deep cleansing breath, and calmed her mind.
Asmaa's glass was almost empty, she turned her head and noticed that the waitress was already at her table, with another 'bloody mary' waiting. "And one for my friend also," she said. She wasn't sure if the girl could drink blood (sure, the human body could ingest 4 pints of blood before regurgitation, but that was not inteded), butif she didn't, there was just one more for Asmaa.
"I'm Asmaa," She introduced, this was going to be interesting. To say the least.

Mei sat down as the girl- Asmaa- gestured for her to take a seat. She felt a little awkward that the woman had ordered a drink for the girl, but she was happy that the woman was being nice to her. Normally people didn't order her drinks, well, not those kind of drinks.
The waitress was back in virtually no time at all, the wait-staff here knew better than to keep a hungry vampire waiting. She licked the blood off of the celery stick and took a bit of the tasteless vegeable. Upon swallowing she replied in a bubbly voice that by no means matched her breed, "I'm Mei, it's nice to meet you." She set the celery stick down and took a sip of her Bloody Kim, the warm liquid rushing down her throat. Blood was the only thing that didn't taste the same to her as a human.
One time when her human friend Greg got into a fight he got a bloody lip. Mei had asked him what the blood tasted like, he responded with iron and salt. To Mei, blood was sweet and addictive, but human food tasted like it did to all humans, except for blood. Mei had always found that interesting.
Mei noticed that Asmaa had a curious look on her face since the loud crunch of the celery, Mei smiled and said below audible human tones, "I'm a half-breed." Normally she didn't outright tell a vampire what she was (most of them could smell it), but something was different about Asmaa.

Asmaa's forehead crumpled at the sound of crunching celery. Could half-breeds eat? Asmaa wasn't sure. But by the sound of it (even though she'd only taken one bite), they could. Asmaa knew very little of the newish half-breed race, and she planned on educating herself via Mei. Who'd know better than a half-breed. She chuckled when Mei came out of the closet in tones most humans couldn't hear. "I noticed," she responded in just as low a tone. Vampires could hear tones much lower than those of humans, but one had to pay attention to eavesdrop on a conversation of this caliber. Asmaa had so many questions for the girl, but she figure bombarding her with them wouldn't get her anywhere. So instead she took another sip of her 'drink', and smiled. "So, "she began, "You can both eat, and drink blood?" Asmaa was still speaking in tones, but when the girl set down her glass it was less dense, which meant she'd taken a drink. Which meant Mei could drink blood. Interesting. "What else can you do?" OOC: Short post...

Mei smiled at her new acquaintance. She was genuinely curious about half-breeds. Most vampires she'd run across asked her these sorts of questions to find their weaknesses or something else. Either way they'd always had an alterior motive. But Asmaa was different. She wouldn't be talking below human aufible levels if she wanted to know for another reason. But that could just be the optimism talking.
"Lots of things." Mei answered, in a bright, bubbly voice that revealed her age. Or lack there of. (She'd forgotten that she was in The Red Horn, and that their conversation might be overheard.)When you're a half-breed it doesn't matter if you're 8 or 88, you look the same, and have the same strength. Advantage of being half-vampire.
Again in her lower tones she continued, "I can eat food, drink blood, hunt, never age..." she went on about the things she was capable of. When people first asked her questions like this, she didn't really know how to answer. It had always just been normal to her. So she didn't know what answers they were looking for. Now she knew how to respond to these series of questions. Mostly because they repeated themselves often enough. "It's basically the best of both worlds."
She couldn't help the little pun there. She was 8, and Hannah Montanna rocked! Hopefully Asmaa didn't know who Hannah Montanna was, and wouldn't hold it against her. She didn't seem like the sort.
